While it is indeed far better to go be with Jesus, Paul was still sorely tempted to hang behind to give the saints a few more minutes of his time. It's because they are the excellent ones in the land, in whom is all our delight.
I believe, Noble Mouse, that Paul was longing to shuffle off to Jesus--his first love, but in obedience, stayed behind to care for the people God had entrusted to him. I pray to be so torn!
