We are too easily drawn to “new” ideas which can cast doubt on Scriptural truth that the church has affirmed for almost 2000 years, thus allowing the spirit of the age to capture us and undermine bedrock tenets of the faith. But as you pointed out, it is insidious, breaking us down gradually, little by little. The dangled carrot may look like freedom but is instead cruel slavery.
