I think you are right in saying that the only way people can write books like this is that they have ceased to believe in hell. Sadly, I know of one local non-TEC Anglican priest who is like this. His internet content is heretical every time, but he is so, SO slick about it … I wonder how many of his parishioners even know where he is leading them. It’s very sad.
I am continually shocked at this kind of apostasy in our Seminaries as well as our local churches.
They can write all the books they want and speak this kind of garbage from the pulpit and there will be people who buy it. It sounds so good being able to justify your lifestyle and twist the Scripture to meet your needs. But if we justify our sinful (yes sinful) behaviors why do we need a Savior?? I appreciate you reading this, I will be searching for these names across the internet. I enjoyed the live feed Anne!
Thank you for this video, what a joy you are! And what a travesty is this book. As a parent of a child who argues that being gay is explained away by an "enlightened" understanding of Romans 1, this book will only add fuel to that raging fire. Upper academia strikes again. (Sidenote: David French is currently teaching on the university campus where I work as a vocal coach. Twice I've seen him in the cafeteria where I've had to stop myself from spilling my tray in his direction.)
I'm so very weary of writers who come across as smarter than God and have to explain Him to the rest of us.
What in the world is comforting about a God who is a loose cannon? A God who is constantly changing is terrifying. This quote by Lewis came to my mind;
“An 'impersonal God'-well and good. A subjective God of beauty, truth and goodness, inside our own heads-better still. A formless life-force surging through us, a vast power which we can tap-best of all. But God himself, alive, pulling at the other end of the cord, perhaps approaching at an infinite speed, the hunter, King, husband-that is quite another matter.”
Also wondering how we have hop skip jumped over sexual fidelity for straight people and moved right into accepting same sex relationships as long as they're monogamous. Because the church in general avoids addressing sexual sin, we now face the definition of loving our neighbor as sexual acceptance - no matter who they love.
Leaving out the atonement and Jesus says it all. This boggles the mind.
God bless you for reading this so I don't have to.
How do we know the time of the live streams? I saw it was going to be today, but don’t really understand how to watch live! Sorry I missed it but thank you for recording!
Tempted to think it is okay to sleep beside guys after house dances as my Christian friends did. The thing which kept me from this was I really liked a nice Christian boy, but he lived far away.
I went, on a couple housdances, and the after party, but asked for a separate room. It was still embarrassing to be with the guy and other couples in the morning.
I finally stopped going to dances, withdrew from dates, because he had me figured out wrong.
Made a vow…, which I kept about fifteen years—but Christians didn’t encourage singleness the, and I’d heard if I spoke of it, I’d not be able to keep it. Most girfriends didn’t like the single idea—I think threatened by it.
Now, if you’re 27, violated, by a professional, and suddenly feel you’ll never get married, you might be drawn into sin, of this type. Around this time I read Ingrid Trobisch’s book, addressing constancy in marriage, for African women whose husbands had AIDS or who had second wives. She believed certain behaviors were not immoral (in the NT —1 Corinthians 6:12, —see 9-11), as adultery or formication would be (Acts 15:28-29). In fact, when I later was engaged, (1991), a book by her and her husband was recommended on benefits of getting actually married (didn’t know why). She said read it with my husband to be. So we did.
When I got married, I lost a bad habit. Where did it go? Why have people tried to rejuvenate it with multiple infections, over many years? Bad meds, topical and sildanifil type, etc.?
I had wished to give it up, many times before, but didn’t see the spiritual bondage of it. For a long time I felt it was, unhealthy, less than GOD’s best, but He understood. I later believed don’t use articles…”trees”, as Ezekiel seemed to put it….
Hope this is not TMI, but our culture is much more used to this kind of thing now.
I think the concerns you raised about atonement, overcoming, and so on, are important.
Christians need hope, and before one can die to sin, one first has to understand it as sin. God’s grace in Christ is how people get to truth. Just law, one person’s ideas, interpretation can not always help. But being honest with Christ, bringing Him confusion, questions, relying on His patience and grace while one seems His wisdom are the way to holy behavior. Reckoning He already calls believers holy, (Ephesians 1:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:12-21; Galatians 3:11-15; 6:15) is beginning of the way out of lies, which keep one unable to see the need for repentance, and redemption.
As Christians, we can help others by holding both things. Ecclesiastes 7:18

a fluffy little comment to say that I like your outfit :)
Too low a view of God, too high a view of self…

“This man conference” 😁
The curiosity is how everyone wants a person’s ID to be who they hope, instead of in Christ.
I was constantly drawn to men, but wanted everyone to like me.
GOD addresses our hearts. He wants our first love to be Him.
