I live in fly-over country in rural west TN.

I doubt very many people in my part of the world have heard of David French much less know (or care about) his religious or political views.

The religious and political views of Donald Trump are another matter. It is not an understatement to say that Trump's utterances are considered of an existential nature to the survival of the United States.

Trump is far from being a perfect, sin-free man and neither was King David in the Old Testament

However, we all got a glimpse of where Trump's heart is, with his three Supreme Court nominations in his first term.

The secular progressive Left sees Trump as their mortal enemy and will do anything to derail his return to the White House.

Donald Trump is a historical figure where David French is just a boat passing in the night.

Well articulated. I think French is being played by the NYT because he is "useful" in the current moment.

"Nonetheless, navigating the turgid and polarizing discourse every day on X (formerly Twitter) and the New York Times leaves me feeling battered, floating on a sea of promises that nothing good lies ahead no matter which way I steer."

I feel that I (and my family) have something of an advantage in this regard, in that we believe that there is a clear course that America can steer at this crossroads, in which good things WILL lie ahead. On the other hand, I'm almost certain that the nation will not choose that path, but will steer yet further into the ditch.

Much of my daily thought and meditation is now centered around moderating my reactions and life decisions after we steer off the road in November.

I just finished listening to the CRI podcast, Anne. Based on the evidence you present, I cannot conclude anything other than that David French is an enemy of the Gospel. I know you didn't draw that conclusion, but I do.

"[A]s a classical liberal, [French] is committed to ideological impartiality." I don't understand this statement, but the YouTube video titled "Milton Friedman on Classical Liberalism" is good.

I think I understand what French means by the statement. But I also think he's lying.

Brilliant article.

Happy to know that I’m not the only one who feels stuck in voting when no candidate is pro-life enough for me!

Also, I am so sick and tired of being gaslight about being concerned about culture wars issues as en evangelical Christian. Any time I want to talk about politics, I’m warned about from “Christian Nationalism” and given a stern warning about rhetoric and kindness. But here’s the thing, is it not somewhat understandable that I might be righteously anger at the thought of laws that allow the killing of innocent children in the womb? Or things in culture that openly mock God? Or mutilating kids who culture has confused about gender? I am mad because I care. Why can’t people see this? I try not to sin in my anger, but boy oh boy, why aren’t more evangelical Christians not more angry that our “niceness” allows evil agendas to hurt and kill people?

Thank you for outlining the hypocrisy. It makes my blood boil.
