Cotton-headed Ninny Muggins is now my favorite term for liberal hogwash! Awesome!

"He has just enough Scripture Knowledge to win a prize but not enough to know the God who made him and who would take care of him if he were not such a cotton-headed ninny muggins."

I also like "YouTube’s tiny stupid AI demon" that can't figure out where to put commas and periods.

Why does he spend all his strength attacking Christians on this issue? He should ask a few Muslims what they thinkk.

I really hope the Left keeps pushing the Trans issue. Why? Because it is such a complete and total political loser. This might be the key to keeping them out of power for a long, long time.

Oliver is one of the smarmy guys who populates the B team and resents women. He delights in Rowling's responses to him because they validate his agency. His self-hatred/pride expresses itself through mocking, delighting in that which demeans and denigrates women whose existences highlight his perceived shortcomings as a man. In the guise of being a feminist, he demands that women be compared to men and forced to compete against them.

It’s rather a bummer. I watched his “Hot Ones” episode and he seemed so endearing.

Also, the Lucy Steele and Aunt Agatha references brought me such enjoyment; so fun to be in on the joke!

[later] Woooooow. I watched the whole thing, and I’m surprised that level of gaslighting didn’t result in a studio fire. 😳 Does John Oliver truly have no understanding of why women’s sports exist in the first place? And how typical that it’s just after a “sincere “ call for good faith discussions that he unironically mocks the cherished religious beliefs of much of the country. Good faith indeed, John.

His discourse perfectly validates Romans 1:18-32, which describes the results of unbridled degeneracy of human sinfulness and rebellion against God.

While John Oliver is always extremely clever, he is not often that funny. Perhaps it is because, like his HBO counterpart Bill Maher, he leans mostly on condescension and mockery to pull off his 45 minute bit. And ironically enough both Maher and Oliver are their least funny when mocking religion, in part because they are generally mocking a caricature of it, and present themselves as that “modern thinker” who has risen above all that nasty superstition of the past. But in this little rant, Oliver simply reveals the same poor reading techniques of most modern day critics, where descriptive and prescriptive portions of the text are spoken of as the same, where Lot’s daughters are presented as a norm or good thing, and somehow it was awful for ancient people to create stability by making sure that brothers protected the women to whom the family had made vows, or to describe the miraculous as a common occurrence. Overall, once again, the rant is an unfunny study in modern ignorance.

I guess I'll never stop being amazed that the premise, "Men are generally stronger than women" is considered so open to question. Someday, perhaps, even John Oliver will discover for himself that elusive connection between physical strength and athletic achievement. There is a video on the YouTubes of some very muscular women being defeated by some very average guys in all but one of a series of strength challenges. It's well worth watching.

To be fair, most women are stronger than John Oliver.

I think he should arm wrestle JK Rowling. I bet, if he really trained for it, he could win.

Love the title alluding to PG Wodehouse! Nice touch!

Oh and check out this Hollywood Reporter article on JK Rowling firing back at Oliver. He will rue the day he decided to mock her. She can’t be bullied and she can run circles around his mockery-masking-bad-logic.

Oh my, you read Kristin, too? In an attempt at fairness, I began reading one of the books she listed in her "oh no, here are some books banned at the US Naval Academy, and how will the nation ever survive this?" tirade, only to be shocked and annoyed by her bleeding naïvete in arguing that removing this 1619-esque screed represents a genuine loss for intellectual development. Du Mez and Megan Basham should sit down for coffee, so people could get an inside look at what's going on within private "Christian" higher education in America. Thanks for linking the concluding palate cleanser.

Du Mez is excrable. And yes, having spent some years in the precincts of "Christian" higher education, I'm grateful to have gotten out.
