"Imagine having a weekly column in the New York Times, having been invited there for some reason, and not using it to every week talk about the Lord Jesus."
Standing ovation for this post. Thank you a million times over!!
Thank you again for applying biblical truth to the current American cultural experience. While I applauded your contrast of a Matthew 18 response to Mr. French's response to being 'cancelled,' I also discovered the uncomfortable truth of experiencing conviction, the conviction of the Spirit regarding my own failures to love church members. As I listened to you read the blog, I found that I too fail to speak up, to correct the erring brother or to address the well-meaning sister's manipulation. It is so much easier just to avoid the discomfort of conflict via separation than it is to face another and talk through the issue(s). While your truth telling brings clarity, I am grateful that it also invites repentance. Again, thank you, Anne.
As your regular liberal responder, I feel like I should be mounting some sort of defense for David French, but as always, I do find your take down quite fun. I mean, I do disagree with you on many points, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy reading the piece. I tried reading French’s piece in the NYT and must admit that I got bored. And once again, I had to question myself and ask, do I sound like that? So much of the article just felt like spent material, nothing new, nothing innovative, just a tired piece, leaning on already exhausted tropes.
One thing I will say is that French is a conservative in my circles, and also a voice that is giving folks who have been burned by the so called progressive movement in what feels like a more sane approach. My atheist business partner said to me the other day, “if you told me I would be reading a weekly column by an Evangelical Christian, I would have laughed at you.” But yeah. His article sucked.
I've always looked askance at the idea that David French is a conservative, either politically or religiously. Those who say that must have a different definition of "conservative" than I do. It must be something like "not as far Left as Marx and Mao and MSNBC but still acceptable to the New York Times."

David French complaining about divisiveness and polarization is like Joe Biden complaining about political prosecutions and political prisoners.
BTW, I was one of those awful people who wrote awful things about French being invited then uninvited to the PCA General Assembly.

Hi Anne, I think there may be some confusion using Mr. Wolfe to refer to both Stephen Wolfe and William Wolfe in this post. Thank you.
yes! Thank you! I fixed it early this morning. Sorry about that!
Thank you, Anne. I may gift Mr. French a subscription to your writing.
Or send him Anne’s article!
You nailed it and then put a blowtorch to the nail.

Great analysis, Anne!
I had such high hope for the song, but that guy was flat (compared to the guitar) on Every. Single. Note. Unlistenable!!
Lastly, I would say this (I, not the Lord): Try skipping leg day ever other time, so that you train legs only half as often as the smaller body parts.
