Hi Anne, I'm a new paid subscriber here but am a longtime reader of Preventing Grace over at Patheos. Because I know you're extremely busy I just wanted to offer this simple phrase (seasonal music allusion there)...thanks for all you do. I'm sure there have been assorted days where you wonder if what you wrote has resonated with or helped someone. Please be assured that your excellent writing has been a tremendous blessing to me for so long, and I'm sure it has blessed so many others.

On a far more trivial note, I just have to share that every December since 2020 I remember your hysterical post about Advent chocolate (tossing bars from Aldi out on your coffee table for family consumption since the calendar chocolates taste bad) and the other post in which Matt wants everyone to watch Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. (Which I also thought was weird way back in the 70s when it first came out).

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts this evening, and I will definitely pray for your Mom!

Oh my goodness I would be upset about my mom being treated like this by these dental thugs. Don’t back down. Sometimes you have to keep your voice low, firm, and go up the chain. I don’t care if feelings are hurt. Maybe it’s from being in the medical world but I don’t let anyone talk down to my sweet husband in particular. Our dentist of many years sold his practice to a corporation. Now going there is an awful experience. So we left. We found a Christian dentist a few minutes from our house.

Our pregnancy care center faces the same algorithm issue. We all were discussing this recently. We are the only PCC in five counties. 2000 searches a month for abortion and 1000 times they get popped up to us. The other 1000 do not get alerted about our option. We have a media specialist who is working on this.

Maine has perhaps one of the smallest populations in the country and maybe that’s why our Congress people (of which we have four) are so helpful. Every time we receive newsletters from them, included are ways to contact them for anything we might need help with.

Maine is a bit of a wacko state. One of its state senators recently decamped to New Hampshire, calling on his district 2 to secede from Maine and join New Hampshire. Many are not sorry to see him go.

We also badger our representatives with legislative suggestions.

Point: if your senators and representative are not helpful with problems like this, corruption in the dental office, perhaps you’ll consider starting a movement for succession of Binghamton. Secede to Maine!

If I understand right, Binghamton is not a wealthy community? The wealthy are moving into Maine and changing, transitioning, it culturally and in other ways, some ways which make it hard to know one’s neighbors. I could list other ways but won’t.
