Is your discussion of primordial chaos related to the struggle for a "Clean Desk"β„’? πŸ™‚

My father was on an aircraft carrier, the St. Lo, during WWII, in the South Pacific. They made history by being the first ship to be hit by a kamikaze. After they were told to abandon ship, Dad found that the ship was going to sink rather quickly and he and his shipmates were in danger of being sucked under. His immediate reaction was to cry out β€œLord, save me.” At that point there was an explosion, and a raft flew out and landed near him and his mates. I now wonder what this lectionary meant to him and wish I could ask him. I will have to put that question to him when we have that heavenly reunion.

The company that Portland Public Schools partnered with was founded by Kapernik and absolutely uses the language of access and equality in the lie of telling students they have created something that they have not created. We live in the age of the avatar, in a new Gnosticism where one creates themselves out of a desired image of themselves utterly removed from the reality of who they are. Don't get me wrong. I go to comic con, I dress up with my boys. But AI has exploded this notion of dissociation between our "identity" and our actuality.

I never thought of AI as a Milton-esque Lord of Chaos. That's a good comparison.

I can imagine AI, the "Anarchie" sitting enthroned over the unmaking of all distinctions, just as Milton described Chaos as being: "A dark illimitable Ocean without bound, Without dimension, where length, breadth, & highth, And time and place are lost."

To make a more biblical description, it does seem to be God giving us over to a "strong delusion."

How long, do you estimate, your desk will REMAIN clean, after the room swap? Yesterday, I cleaned out a desk drawer that hadn't been touched in 4 1/2 years (except to search for something) and only then, I packed its contents into a box and then into a moving truck, and unpacked the box directly back into the drawer without removing anything. I was searching for something yesterday, and had had ENOUGH, so hauled in the kitchen garbage can to do a clean out (and moved things like the Title to our house and dog rabies certificates into the fire safe) And no, I didn't find the specific thing I had been looking for, but I found 2 other things I'd been looking for earlier in the week.

Anyway, when we fled TEC for the ACNA last September, I hadn't joined the choir for the first time since I was 6. And then we moved to the early service and LIKED it (processional, recessional, children's sermon for the 8-10 kids there at 8am- everything I need, with quick in and out) so I resisted. But God has had other ideas. :P Finally a couple weeks ago, after the 3rd person that Sunday mentioned I should join the choir and one offered to provide my transport, I said in the car on the way home that I'd better agree before I ended up in the belly of a "Big Fish" for not listening to God. My 9 yr old helpfully suggested that if I didn't want to be swallowed by a whale, I could just avoid the ocean. ROFL I told him that wouldn't stop God, if God decided I needed to spend some time in a whale's belly to make me listen.

My news feed this morning had "AI content" markers for about half the feed, and there's no way to tell it "don't show me AI content" I know, because I looked. And the feeds were from major publications! Bridget Phetasy last week (or week before, I had 3 weeks to catch up on after my parents went home) suggested that knowing that Fauci lied (and now AI) making people not blindly listen to the government and the media isn't necessarily a bad thing. Because the media tells us a lot of untrue and dangerous things, and we NEED to distrust the harmful things they push at us. I know that God can use anything for his purposes- even Lying Liars in power, or AI. (Bridget was just trying to find some good in all the harm that Fauci knowingly caused, btw) People need to learn to distrust the untrustworthy.

I am reminded that 2 years ago I began my Lenten cycle with Anne in mind, because she had just lost somebody close to her, and so I set this poem down, which interestingly enough came out of Jonah's heart cry (perhaps the only authentic thing he says in the whole book). Thought I'd share a link to it.

Pointing to the results of "a program to detect AI" evaluating a passage of text is hilarious to me. I can imagine the AI in their virtual forums mocking the igborant and lazy, and, therefore, gullible "meat sacks," for believing the random numbers assigned by programs to detect the products of other programs.

Like the naked emperor, academic institutions guarded "scholarship" with "cutting edge" and " 99%+ reliable technology." They had first eagerly jumped down the rabbit hole when all papers submitted were run through "plaguerism detectors." Not realizing their folly, they doubled down with algorithmic "AI detectors." The true solutions of cultivating a culture of academic integrity, more robust schloarship, and wider reading aren't even considered.

By the way, I’m in Barcelona right now waiting to board a cruise ship with my husband. I will have to find a recording of my pastor’s sermon from yesterday to hear his take on this Scripture.
