In case you were having trouble making sense of what you have to do to be a Christian—a trouble I know plagues the readership of this exciting online space—I have good news! Dr. Kevin has boiled it down for you. It’s actually super easy. Ready?
Isn’t that great? It’s literally not hard at all. Just be nice to people. That’s it. I know you were thinking that just being nice seems too too simple, and also super vague, but it’s not. Just be nice. If you’re mean, you’re not even a Christian. Because being a Christian, as you well know, is about you and how you treat other people. That’s it. There’s nothing beyond it.
Just like how when you’re hungry, you can just go to Wegman’s and buy some sushi. It’s super easy. Or if you need a half-caf frap with extra foam, you just drive through Starbucks. Make sure your car is a hybrid, though, because sitting in a long line of other cars might not be “nice” for the earth. And make sure to use the right pronouns for the person at the window. If you don’t know, maybe ask, because using the wrong pronouns isn’t “nice” as you well know. Also, now that I think about it, you better be careful who you vote for. I know, it’s kind of hard because the candidate you were clearly going to vote for because it’s “nice” to vote for him is mentally unfit to be in office, and the other one is wicked, so, goodness—what are you going to do? Because voting is part of what makes you a nice person. It’s like spreading your niceness to the whole country and to the world.
Anyway, I tweeted this:
Then, because I am so nice, I thought it would be cool to offer some suggestions for how to be nice as a Christian. I posted these all on Twitter yesterday, but I thought it might be nice, as it were, to expand them a little bit. Feel free to be nice yourself in the comments. Also, it’s nice to share and subscribe, as you know. Not sharing and not subscribing, and leaving mean comments is mean. And being mean, just to remind you, is not Christian. Not At All. Jesus was never mean—never.
