I guess things are hotting up in The Great Anglican Disappointment of 2024: Mere Anglicanism/Calvin Robinson Edition. Early this morning, Bishop Chip released a letter apologizing to all the women injured by Robinson’s talk and reminding everyone that the main thing about being in a church with “dual integrities” is that everyone must be very kind. Robinson was unkind, in this case, and so Bishop Chip is very sorry.
Robinson announced yesterday that he would be releasing more of the recording of his dis-invitation from the panel discussion, which sounds like it will be, at the very least, deeply embarrassing to listen to. And if you happened to miss it, here is Matt’s piece over at the American Reformer describing what happened and what it might mean. And here are the Stand Firm guys talking about it as well.

The first thought is that this “disagreement,” to understate it, between the organizers of Mere Anglicanism and Calvin Robinson is a mini apocalypse. Some of the things that we can all see this morning are things I’ve felt for some time, without being able to put words to them. The uppermost of those things is that in some places, ordained women hold a lot of power, but that their power is brittle. It has to be protected at sometimes quite a high cost.
