I am accumulating and numbering my thoughts about the Great Winsomness Debacle of 2023, the latest chapter of which includes the mischaracterization, to put it charitably, of everything that James Woods has ever said or written about the issue. But I am also in the middle of trying to pull together my thoughts about Women and the Gender of God, so come back another day for my Thoughts and Prayers TM on Winsomeness, but stick around today for a disturbing Chat GPT attempt at rewriting the Christian gospel. I’ve been running up, here and there, against that amorphous word—Soul—here and there lately. What is it? Where is it in the person? Does everyone even have one? Is it the same as the Spirit? Or different? Is it connected to the heart and mind? What about the will? Some cultures and languages don’t try to parse out all these conundrums while others wade full into the mire. Ours appears to be creating something differently different. This is the first time I’ve seen, though maybe I’ve been living under a rock, “heart” being “divided” between “spirit and body.” What might one make of these distinctions?
