Yet Moar Content! This week, Matt and I talk about the book, Safe Church, by Andrew Bauman that is being used as the primary resource for the ACNA’s Provincial Women’s Leadership Network panel discussion called “Imago Dei in the Church.” Bauman writes in his book that the bible is “problematic” because of the patriarchy, that it “erases women,” that complementarian readings of scripture are inherently misogynistic and that they cause trauma and lead to actual abuse, and that women should rely on their feelings to tell whether or not a passage of the bible has been interpreted correctly. We conclude that ACNA should have nothing to do with it and the panel discussion should be shut down and whoever decided to platform the book to ACNA people should issue a public apology. Enjoy!
