The last few days have renewed my long-felt and profound sense of shame at the historic safeguarding failures of the church of England. For nearly 12 years I have struggled to introduce improvement. It is for others to judge what has been done.

Keeping in mind that “struggle” is just another word for “failure,” such a reckoning shouldn’t be too difficult to undertake. Any church cleric can fail—indeed, does day by day. It takes someone uniquely feckless to preside over the utter ruin of Anglicanism in Great Britain, to so fully alienate Anglicans around the world from their historic See.
