Is This "Christian" Nationalism?
A Bit of a Rant About An Evangelical Immigration Table Advertisement
I’m late today, tragically, because of being up coughing a good part of the night hours.
And then I didn’t like what I had written, and so, against my better judgment, I wandered over to X and found this (click the picture to go watch the video):
It’s called “I Was a Stranger” and appears to be a sort of Christian version of those celebrities singing “Imagine” except in this case, they are Evangelical Pastors and such like reading Matthew 25:31-46 to mood music. If you clicked, you would have seen Basham’s screenshots of a lot of content generated by the organization, which appears to be called Evangelical Immigration Table.
So, I don’t want to talk about immigration. I mean, I probably do, but I don’t want to right now because someone will get mad at me. Indeed, it seems to be such a blighted political issue that whatever I happened to think about it would be of no profit to anyone. Does someone want to pay me to join their think tank to “solve” this problem? I doubt it. The question of whether or not people come to this country and on what conditions and for how long and why has too much money and emotion attached to it to actually make it solvable.
The use of the Bible, on the other hand, very much interests me, particularly how “evangelicals” use it.
