Actually, the sin of sodom was water-wasting because of Genesis 13:10. If you understand the ancient Hebrew, clearly it indicates that they probably-certainly let their faucets run while brushing their teeth. Heinous. 😱⚡️
Concerning the dude that left the SBC seminary for the ACNA, my attitude is “so what?”. I appreciate Anne’s commentary on the matter. We happen to be in community at a local Southern Baptist church, and it is truly a community of believers. We love the people, the gospel is preached, and the sacraments (aka ordinances) are administered every Lord’s Day. Do we have problems? Absolutely. We’ve gone through some very difficult and trying circumstances. What church hasn’t? I wish we had a stronger emphasis on early church history and the historic creeds. But unless the Holy Spirit clearly leads us to worship and serve somewhere else, we will be there until we die.
After reading your article, I followed the link to the SBC prof's Substack. His explanation was disingenuous, since the SBC approved the Nicene Creed a year or 2 ago. (I have a copy of the resolution, but it's a jpg and I don't know how to attach it here). Also, a friend who is a recent grad of the Baptist seminary in Kansas City where he caught tells me that he was known for bringing liberal speakers into his classes and podcasts, such as from the mainline Episcopalians and PC USA. So I think y'all are welcome to him!
