It’s so exciting you guys, Meghan Markle has a Netflix show coming out called “With Love, Meghan.” She’ll be baking cakes and talking to celebrities and arranging flowers. The trailer looks like a veritable Festival of Platitudes:

As a connoisseur of Ballerina Farm and Nara Smith reels, not to be mean or anything, but the market for this kind of thing is almost at saturation point. Why would we need to know how Meghan arranges her peonies when we can just watch disembodied hands appear in the middle of Facebook and do it without any of the fuss? Also, that side hug with Harry looks to me like maybe things aren’t that peachy. Could it be that my prediction that they will finally split up in November 2025 really come true?

Being a glutton for punishment, I dug out my old copy of Richard Hays’ Moral Vision of the New Testament. I don’t remember reading any books in seminary, least of all this one. I know I must have, but I can’t remember anything except how sad and miserable I was (until I met Matt). But my copy is full of notes all the way through. Moreover, it seems that I read with no sense of suspicion or cynicism. Trustingly and obediently, I took notes in the margins and therefore must have even written a paper.
